- The Saracens living in Spain threatened France for quite some time, so Duke Eudes banned them even though they returned. When Eudes wedded his daughter to an Islamic emir, the alliance angered the Frankish mayor: Charles Martel.
- Why would Duke Eudes have the nerve to marry his daughter to Othmar?
- Stop invading our territory when we banned you!
- Abd Er Rahman, Spain’s governor, marched to the Pyrnees, assumingly planning to attack Frankish territory. The Saracens continued attacking the Franks, and Abd er Rahman defeated Eudes near Bordeaux, where Charles’ army arrived.
- My army and I have arrived!
- ALAS! Victory is mine and I have defeated Duke Eudes!
- I see you haven't prepared for the winter. I guess we are going to win.
- Are we done waiting to attack yet or...
- Neither of the armies attacked for 6 days. The Franks dressed for the harsh winter and the Saracens were less prepared. They attacked on the 7th day, since they didn’t want to postpone the battle and fight the Franks.
