- This is called SECONDARY succession. Succession is the process of change in an ecosystem. Also, we need to get out of here!
- So PRIMARY succession has no soil while SECONDARY succession has soil?
- I forgot to tell you back at the volcano, SECONDARY succession is when after the natural disaster occurs, the ecosystem starts off with plants like the grass here. PRIMARY succession starts off with bare rock/no soil.

- So what would this stage be if the last one was the stage with grass?

- This stage would be the one where flowers and small bushes would start to grow.
- Look at these awesome pine trees. Would this be the last stage in Secondary Succession?

- This is actually not the final stage of Secondary Succession. This is the stage where young pine trees start to grow.

- We should get going otherwise my mom's going to kill me for staying late!!!!!!
- You are correct! In this stage, we have the big oak trees. After a few more years, this forest will be completely filled up with trees.
