Silas Marner

- Silas is watching over the church deacon whist he is ill. Silas has a fit, and his friend steals the deacon's money, framing Silas. Silas loses everything including his home and his fiancé.
- Silas moves to Raveloe and becomes a weaver. he is extremely antisocial and doesn't trust anybody. as a result of this he hardly leaves his house. he hoards his money.
- Silas's money goes missing (nobody knows it was stolen by Dunstan Cass). everyone is confused and angry, but no-one can find the thief.

- Godfrey Cass hosts a Winter party which the whole town attends. his secret wife plans to burst in with their baby, but she never makes it. during one of Silas's fits, the child, Eppie, walks into his house and falls asleep by the fire.
- many years later, Godfrey Cass is now married to Nancy Lammeter and Eppie (who lives with Silas) is grown up. Godfrey tells Nancy that Eppie is his child, and since they are childless, they decide to get her back from Silas.
- Eppie decides to stay with Silas, and they live happily. Dunstan Cass's body is found along with all Silas's money. the end.
