  • Good morning Tom and Linda, as you all know that we are gathered here for the disciplinary hearing for Tom regarding his misbehavior of leaving work before tthe end of his shift.
  • Yes, Thank you for having me today.
  • Morning Steve, thanlk you for arrahnging this meeting.
  • Lets start by explaning a disciplinary hearing and why is it held. A disci[plinary hearing is a procedure held to address an employees misconduct, it is the investigation stage and where everyone gets to express there sides which will help to find a solution to the problem. i hope we all understand?
  • Yes we understand, I have already explained the process to Tom. Thank you Steve, you may contiune.
  • Now this book you see here is to keep the information of the employee, as well as our discusisions and the outcome of this meeting. Linda will also keep the record of her own, each person will be given a chance to speak.
  • Yes Steve, and i just want to point it out that a disciplinary hearing is not to put an employee on the spot light but to establish the facts of the case.
  • A disciplinary hearing is taking place after Linda and the manager decided that suspending Tom was harsh due to the fact that he leaves work before his shift ends, LInda is representing Tom.
  • Well then, I am happy that we all understand the purpose of this meeting, we gonna start by asking Tom whether he knows what time his shift ends as it was stipulated in his contract. And do you plead guilty to the charges held against you?
  • Yes sir, I plead guilty.

  • It is very important for the employee to have a representative that understands workplcxae issuess and how to resolve them at a disciplinary hearing so that the employee may not feel uncomfortable and be taken advantage of. Representatives explain to the employee any allegation made against them and acts as a spoke person for the employee.

  • A disciplinary hearing is held to make sure that proper procedures are followed before dismissing an employee and for the employee to present their case before making the final decison by the management. It is very important that every memeber understands their roles so that the precedure is fair and understood by all memebers involved.
  • An employer has the right to apply discipline when rules are broken and implement a fixed standard when it comes to quality and quantity in the workplace. Before the disciplinary hearing the emploer should issue a disciplinary note to an employee to ateend the disciplinary hearing and give the employee the right to a representative and the disciplinary should be held at the date and time that it was propsed.
