- Night time was coming, Mama and Esperanza were scared for Papa not coming back home. Alfonso and Miguel were sent to find Papa if he was okay. They came back with a body covered with a blanket and all realized that Papa was dead.
- Connection to History:The only reason why Papa was killed is because it was the end of the Mexican Revolution, but people were still not happy. It was also based on the Great Depression. When California's banks were in debt and everyone became homeless.
- FIND THE ROSE!
- A conflict I would like to share is when Esperanza wanted to go back to Mexico to her ranch. Everyone missed the ranch a lot. The rest knew they had to move on, but not Esperanza.
- No I won't accept your proposal.
- Returning back. Asking for a last chance. Mama accepted. Abuleita as was hurt from the fire. Luckily Miguel knew family from California and told Esperanza Mama to move there.
- I have a favor to ask you Ramona. I was thinking if I could ask for a proposal.
- After Ramona not excepting Tio Luis, her burns the house with Mama regretting it. Mama accepted it with no choice left.
- Fine, I will accept your marriage Tio Luis, you give me no choice
- Two symbolism's in this book is the zigzag pattern in the blanket Abulieta makes. The pattern says that life will always have bumps on the road, but always will have a solution. Another one is the doll. It was the last thing Esperanza's dad made for her. She relinquishes it like her own daughter.
- Will you finally have me as your husband?
- Come in, we will show you around.
- My literary device is "Frame Story" This means that the charecter is telling about her past. In the beginning Papa shows Esperanza that the Earths heart is always beating. When it really isn't.
- They all arrived in California. They met Juan, Josephine, Isabel, Lupe and Pepe. They arrived at the camp and settled down there, it was their new home.
- Esperanza and Miguel had a big fight one day. When they moved to California, Esperanza started saving money for Abulieta to come. The next day found it empty and realized Miguel stole it.
- A few days after they moved in, they had a valley storm. Then Mama started coughing a lot. The doctor came to them and said she has Valley fever.
- Esperanza realized that if she works until peach season, she can have enough money to get Abuelita to California.
- My theme is "Work hard for what you want" This means if you want something, you got to work for it. For example, maybe you want a PS5, You have to work for it to get it.
- One afternoon Esperanza saw Alfonso and Hortensia outside. She asked what was going on. Alfonso said that Miguel wanted to meet them at the train station. When the three of them arrived Esperanza couldn't believe what she saw.
