- What have I done...
- Mr. White and his son Herbert are playing chess but, Mr. White loses and gets angry but his family argument is soon interrupted by a visit from a soldier.
- FALLING ACTION
- FREE ME FROM THIS NIGTHMARE!
- Mr. White receives a monkey's paw from the soldier was was recently in India, the soldier warns him of serious consequences by wishing on the paw but Mr. White ignores these and wished for 200 pounds.
- RESOLUTION
- Am I yet free from this curse?
- The day after Mr. White wishes for 200 pounds, he receives a visit from a stranger who informs him that his son dies in a machinery accident and gives them 200 pounds as compensation for the death.
- You will receive 200 pounds.
- Mrs. White begs Mr. White to revive their son using the paw, Mr. White reluctantly agrees but then beings panicking when Mrs. White sees their son walking towards their house, he hurriedly wishes for something unknown to stop his son from getting in the house.
- Mr. White runs out of his house onto an empty road after his son is gone and moves to an unknown end.
