  • In the emergency room
  • Waking up in a random place
  • Meeting Sabrina
  • why is she looking at me like that? i don't trust her..
  • Hello..
  • My body hurts. I can hear the doctors saying “hurry, we don't have time!!”. I think I remember what’s happening, yet I don't remember. Too many lights.. It’s killing me slowly. I wish I could go back and fix everything that happened. This one light though, it’s coming closer to me. Am I dying? Is it a flashback?
  • Standing up for what's right
  • It’s 7 in the morning. I asked myself “What am I doing in a nice bed? I live in an orphanage.” No one wants me, no one picks me. Why am I not back at the orphanage? Did someone kidnap me and bring me to this house? Did they switch me to a different orphanage? So many questions running through my head. While I was zoning out I heard a woman yell, “Josephina, come down to the living room please.” “How does this woman know my name?” I ask myself as I get changed. “Josephina!!” I know I may get called ungrateful but who does this woman think she is, and why is she yelling at me like that?! I yell back in a stern way “HOLD UP PLEASE.!” I head down stairs to see the commotion.
  • Changing my perspective
  • As I was going down the stairs I heard a voice of a little girl. I ignored it though since I just woke up so I was probably imagining things. Turns out I was wrong. Once I reached down the stairs I noticed a girl my age, she had blonde curly hair however her clothes were somewhat ragged. However I was wearing nice clothing and was disgusted by her appearance. The elder woman said to me, “Josephina, meet your new sister”. “Sister??” I said. “So this woman is my mother and I believe the guy next to her is my father?” I thought to myself. “Don’t be rude Josephina, say hi to Sabrina”. “Hello Sabrina.” I said while staring her up and down. “H-hello..”. “Girl don’t be scared, you’re acting like I would hurt you.” “Josephina! That’s enough!” “I’m sorry but I’m just saying..” This is great, I got adopted and now there is another girl with me? Ridiculous. I don’t want to associate with her or anyone else, I will act like the way I acted back in the Orphanage, mysterious and quiet. The man quickly changed the topic and said “Alright girls, time to get to school! Oh and Josephina, please let Sabrina use your clothes please..” Excuse me, did I hear this right? This mutt using my clothes? These people are out of their minds!! In the corner of my eye I see Sabrina looking upset, I sighed and said “Yes, let’s go Sabrina.” I headed up the stairs with her and we both went inside my room, it was quiet. I picked out my blue sweats and my salmon colored shirt. I noticed she had her slides on so I gave her my black flats. “Here and don’t embarrass me in school.” She nodded and we went downstairs to eat breakfast. I haven’t spoken to her since. After eating we cleaned ourselves one more time and then went to the car and the man drove us to school.
  • Starting over in life
  • Once we arrived at school I reminded Sabrina to not bother me. She nodded and we went our separate ways. I didn’t have friends in school, I never had any friends in general, but it doesn’t really affect me since I’m used to being alone. The only memory I got of my parents was when they said “we can’t do this anymore and then left me at the orphanage door at the age of 4. Since then I haven’t opened up to anyone and I don’t plan to. After my 3rd period I went to sit on my spot but as soon as I turned around I saw Sabrina. “Her?! What is she doing here??” She walked up to me and asked if she could sit next to me, I stayed quiet and just patted the seat and surprisingly she understood what I was saying. She sat down and it quickly became awkward, I plugged my headphones in. In the corner of my eye I saw Julia, “great..” I muttered to myself. I had blasted my music and proceeded to put my head down to avoid her. I wanted to let Sabrina know that Julia is a bad person but I had already put myself in a comfortable position so I decided to let her do her. “Well well well. Looks like we have two nerds next to each other, how cute!” I decided to play my music louder so I wouldn’t hear Julia. Not even 2 seconds later I hear everyone getting loud so I decided to turn my head around to see the commotion. I could not believe my eyes when I saw what was happening. Julia was gripping on Sabrina’s wrist. I quickly got up and helped Sabrina and I immediately started yelling at Julia. “HOW DARE YOU GRAB ON HER!? YOU BARELY KNOW HER AND YOU’RE ALREADY PICKING ON HER?” The class went silent, Julias face went pale, its lowkey reminded me of my unfinished milk that I left on the table. Julia started chuckling and began to come at me, saying so many nasty words. Do I care though? No, I really don’t. I once again stood up for Sabrina and said “Julia, doing this does not make you look cool. It just makes you look like a fool. So right now I’m going to ask you to stop bothering Sabrina and everyone else in here because we are tired of your nonsense.” The class started agreeing with me, “Yeah!” “I agree!”. Julia quickly turned into a tomato and left the class. I felt different, it’s not a bad type of difference but it's a good type.
  • I turned to check up on Sabrina, I asked if she’s alright and she nodded. “Listen I may have been a jerk before but I’m here to help, please don’t be afraid of me” I said. I looked at her face, she looked exactly like I did when I was in the orphanage. My mind had opened up and I realized something. Since no one wanted to look out for me, why not try to look out for others and help them. I introduced myself, “My name is Josephina, I would like to be friends with you.” She looked at me and smiled and accepted my request. “Josephina, may we please go to another room?” I agreed, I mean we were going to have a sub anyways so it wouldn’t matter. We went into an empty room and started talking to each other. I had explained my background story to her so she would understand that I’m not a bad person. “You know Josephina, just because something bad happened to you doesn’t mean you have to close people out of your life forever.” Sabrina began to get nervous. “Don’t get nervous, I’m confused so may you explain what you meant?” Sabrina smiled, “Like yeah tragic things may happen but don’t let it stop your life. For example you need to open up and make new friends. You need a place to belong, and right now believe it or not you belong to the class. You helped them overcome their fear of Julia, they accepted you and most likely want to be friends with you.” Sabrina had a point, thanks to me associating with people, that will make me feel like I’m belonging somewhere. Not only thanks to me but thanks to Sabrina for opening my mind up more and realizing one of the good truths of the world. I smiled at her and we started laughing together.
  • I woke up in a dark room. I look around and I see a doctor. “Uhm excuse me, what is going on and why am I here.” I said as I quickly sat up, as I did that I felt a huge pain on the side of my back. “Hello my name is Doctor Williams, now on to the point. I wouldn’t be surprised if you forgot what happened but I’m here to explain. You have been hit by a car, and according to some witnesses it seems like you meant to do it.” I looked down at the floor realizing how stupid I was to commit a terrible act. “You’re right, I’m sorry for doing that and making you waste your time on me. I did it because no one was here for me, but now I realized that people are here for me but I just need to open up.” The doctor looked at me and smiled, “I’m glad you realized honey, someone from the orphanage will be here to pick you up.” I looked down onto the ground and whispered “oh..so it was all a dream, Sabrina wherever you are I just want to thank you for changing my perspective on life.” The nurse came into my room and escorted me out to the waiting room. I'm heading back to the orphanage. It’s repeating all over again except I will be more social so I can have a place to belong.
