- The protagonist, Rey, is a high-school Hispanic teenager. Mr. Sanchez asks his son’s (Orlando’s) friend, including Rey, to do his labor by luring them in with great rewards that he doesn’t carry out and take advantage of them. For instance, Mr. Sanchez asks them to clean up the yard, neighbor’s yard, and digging holes for a new basketball court in exchange for rewards, but he never keeps the promises.
- Falling action
- Rey’s mom tells Rey to drive to pick up his little brother and get some tortillas after being a bit reluctant. On the halfway driving he saw Mr. Sanchez sitting down with a tired face and realized that his tire was flat. At first, Rey pretends that he didn’t see him and because he is mad about him. However, later on, he feels conflicted when he considers what if his dad is in the same situation as Mr. Sanchez.
- Resolution
- Rey told himself that he’s doing it for his father and made a u-turn (turn his car around) to get to him.
- The end
- Mr. Sanchez is very appreciative for Rey stopping because he has been sitting there for about 45 minute under the ho sun. Ray changes Mr. Sanchez’s flat tire in a very short time.
- Mr. Sanchez invites Rey to come for tomorrow’s night barbecue small party which important people in the town will also be coming. However, Rey refuses his invitation, saying that tomorrow he will be playing soccer with other boys.
- Theme- Be kind even if you dislike someone because kindness is not merely for the sake of others.- Charity is a good investment.
