- At the age of 17, Marco Polo started his journey in Venice, Italy with his father. They were headed to work with a Mongol king, Kublai Khan.
- After Kublai Khan got old, Marco Polo left and headed back home. There, he joined war against Genoa.
- During war, Marco got caught and was sent to jail for about a year. There, he met a man named Rustichello. Marco Polo told Rustichello of his journey's, and then the man wrote them. The book became quite popular.
- The Travels of Marco Polo became very popular among people, but many people began to assume that they were all lies. People began to call the book One Million Lies.
- Many believe that as Marco Polo told his adventures, Rustichello and others changed or altered some events.
- Marco Polo inspired many such as Columbus through his journey. He soon passed away in 1324.
