- ugh! My second semester was horrible and so short. I wish I took the same course as yours but I did survive. How was your second semester in any one of your modules Palesa?
- Ooh I'm sorry to hear that friend but I am glad you survived! I too was told that the second semester is the hardest, with many work but in a very short time and that was certainly true. Although the certainty, my learning experience in LES was interesting and there were no hiccups.
- Girl! , I am glad that I made it too my marks are looking great and glad that you had a great learning experience in LES. So tell me what did you learn?
- Yay! I'm glad you asked. I learnt how to work with arguments and put it into practice by taking part in an online discussion and a debate. I learnt that when presenting your arguments you should provide a claim, support your argument with evidence and reasoning.
- That really sounds interesting!
- I know right! That's not all. I also learnt how to critically think by not taking information into face value but rather analyze the information. This lead to me putting my critical thinking skills into practice by watching a documentary called Black Gold, it was about Ethiopian coffee farmers struggling to find higher prices for their coffee beans. I highly recommend watching the documentary, it's very educational.
- So now tell me, how are you going to put to use what you learned?
- You sure can make me talk all day. Well, I am sure that all I have learnt in LES will be implemented in my everyday life. I now know when providing an argument it can be in a debate or while socializing or at school, I should present appropriate claims, support my arguments with relevant evidence and reasoning and I should be able to see what is false and true by being a critical thinker
- I should also be a well informed consumer by being aware of farmers or any other producers' conditions and ask for fair traded products
- Thank you friend that was informative. I best believe that we should buy fair traded products here! Ooh we are so bright, haha!
