- Jing Mei is forced to start taking piano lessons with Old Chong, a very old man who is deaf and can't see well,she was not very good at playing the piano but her teacher was deaf so he thought she was fine

- Old Chong and Jing Mei's mom sign Jing Mei up for a church talent show. Jing Mei performs, and she plays her song horribly.people tell him that it was very bad but his teacher tells him that it was perfect
