Some say the world will end in fire
according to Robert frost fire’ stands for desire, greed, avarice or lust. The more you try to satisfy them, the more they grow. There is no end to it.

On the other hand, ‘ice’ according to the poet, stands for hatred, coldness and rigidity. One becomes insensitive and indifferent towards the feelings of others.
The poet believes personally that ‘fiery desires’ are capable of bringing human beings on the verge of destruction. Then he thinks that if the world were to end twice, then ‘icy hatred’ would be just as capable of ruining humans, though slowly but steadily.
