  • Hi students. Today we are going to be talking about UbD. (Understanding By Design) UbD is a fancy word for creating a lesson plan for your students. An advantage of UbD is being able to create a goal in ways you are going to teach. For example making the unit test as a way to set standards as what you want to teach
  • This is so cool!

  • How do you organize this knowledge?
  • There are many more advantages of UbD. Consisting of, creating different ways students can learn, helping build a better bond between the student and teacher, and lastly, ways to delivery your knowledge to the students.
  • You organize this knowledge with three stages. Learning Goals, Feedback and assessments, and learning plan. The definition of established goals is, "what do students need to learn and be able to do? The definition for stage one, learning goals is, "what is it that I want the students to understand and know/ be able to do. There are performance tasks in stage 2. The definition for performance tasks are the ways in which you know your students have learned what they needed to learn. Performance tasks can also be developing a guide for students on what to do. Feedback and assessment defined is ," How will I know they know what I want them to know"?
  • Can I go to the bathroom?
  • Now students, here is the definition of learning and teaching. Teaching is the process of giving out information in hopes that someone learns it. Learning is the process of receiving that information hopes of learning it and using it in the future
  • I guess so but we are going to be talking about two of the most important parts. In my opinion, besides from creating the goal of course
  • Anyways class, there are two other points we have not talked about. The big ideas, and learning activities. The big ideas defined are the understandings that are being desired and also the questions that will guide and point towards the big idea. Learning activities defined is basically how the students are going to learn it. Meaning ,"How will the students learn it"? Those are two of the most important points when it comes to UbD

  • Bye class! I hope you have enjoyed learning about UbD and soon we will start to practice it.
