- Carl Rodgers believed in the Ideal Self which is the self each person wants to be. Since I want to be someone who helps people and makes the world better, Rodgers would say that is my ideal self.

- Costa and McCrae believe in the Big Five Model which is the traits Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, Neuroticism. Since I am exhibiting qualities of being easily upset and worried, they would consider me to have the trait of Neuroticism.

- Bandura believed that every one had either an external or internal locus of control. This means that you are controlled by your environment or you are the one in control over your life. Since I am taking responsibility for getting a bad grade on a test because I didn't study, Bandura would say I have an Internal Locus of Control.
- Freud believed that we have an unconscious and preconscious awareness and within those are the Id, Superego, Ego. Since I gave into my desires and urges without really thinking about it, Freud would consider that to be me listening to my Id.
- Karen Horney believes in the subconscious decisions we make depending on how much love we got when we were younger. Since I immediately got together with someone after just breaking up with them, Horney would say that I am making the subconscious decision of compliance. This means that I move toward people.
