THE RULER
THE VILLAIN
THE HERO
The king or queen who can either be an enemy or an ally to the hero. The ruler might be tyrannical and need to be removed, or they can provide much-needed insight and aid to the hero to save the kingdom.
The villain wants to take over the world, or destroy the hero's quest. He or she is driven by evil or dishonorable intentions, like greed, lust, or revenge.
The hero is the protagonist of the story. The hero often embarks on a quest reluctantly, and is usually motivated by good intentions such as love, vanquishing evil, or saving a loved one or the world.
THE SIDEKICK

THE CLOWN / JOKER
The sidekick tags along with the hero or protagonist. Sometimes he or she is an assistant, and can play a pivotal role in saving the hero's life.
The mentor serves as a guide or adviser to the hero or protagonist. He or she is often older and more experienced, and they are eager to pass their knowledge on to the hero to help them in their journey.
The clown or joker is always finding humor in a situation, or providing a comedic element for the audience and/or the characters. The clown always has good intentions and doesn't mean to hurt anyone.
