- Stanley Yelnats was walking home from school. He was walking under an overpass and a pair of shoes fell on his head. He ran home.

- Well I've never been to camp before...

- They sent Stanley to court for stealing the shoes.

- Stanley meets Mr. Sir and gets his clothes.

- Boys this is Stanley Yelnats...
- "Stanley couldn’t help but think that there was something special about the shoes, that they would somehow provide the key to his father’s invention."The cops thought he stole them and was running away.
- All the other boys were done digging their holes.
- Clyde Livingston accused Stanley of stealing his shoes. Stanley was given a choice of jail or camp green lake. He chose camp green lake.
- Stanley finishes his hole and they go to bed.

- They got up super early to eat breakfast.
