- The narrator was introduced. He wished to prove his sanity despite having killed a man over his deformed eye
- CLIMAX
- The narrator lived in the same building who had a deforming eye.The narrator said he was deformed, looking like a venture´s eye with a film covering it
- FALLING ACTION
- Over the next 8 days, the narrator plotted to kill the old man to getrid of his eye. Each night, the narrator entered the old man´sroom with a lantern until he saw his eye
- RESOLUTION
- tic tic tic ( sound of heart beating)
- What have I done?
- Finally, one evening the old man woke up and screamed. The narrator pulled the old man off the bed and smothered him with his mattress until he could not hear the old man's heart beating.
- Summoned by a neighbor, the police arrived, citing and someone reported a scream. The narrator tried to covered up by saying that it was him who screamed and thatthe old man was out of town.
- The story ends when the narrator believed he head a ticking noise that grows louder and louder. He believed that it is the sound of the old man’s heart and confesses to the police.
