- Part of the country goes on lockdown following major protests. Despite this, Julian will be visiting his family - the first time in some years.
- Chapter 4.4
- Before he goes, he attends a friend's bday celebration. They all go out for the weekend, bar and club hopping.
- Chapter 4.5
- The following morning, he attends brunch with the group of friends. Before they leave, a child appears at the door to say hello and happy birthday. His friend gives her food before she leaves. He explains they are poor and she is neglected.
- Chapter 4.6
- They go to the beach together. At the beach, woman's husband goes for a swim with a few others, leaving Julian alone with woman. He divulges what has been going on in his family and how he worries.
- To cap off the weekend, they all go to a quiet bar. Some slow music plays. Julian notices the people dancing lovingly under the dim light, holding hands. He feels lonely and empty.
- He goes home alone. He decides to pack and starts gathering some clothes to take home. The more he thinks of this trip, the more apprehension he becomes. In the next few days, he hits the road.
