- In todays world, things are constantly changing. Ever since the COVID outbreak in 2020, video conferencing has become widely popular among companies instead of hosting in-person meetings.
- This means adaptation needs to occur. For most, video conferencing is simple, but not everyone automatically has everything they need for video conferencing to work.
- Companies should make additional considerations regarding accessibility for their disabled employees.
- Here are a few things companies need to think about when hosting video conferences for their employees:
- Make sure you explain topics step-by-step. Try to use plain language, avoid slang. Use large text that has good color contrast.
- Add captions to videos, make sure audio is good quality, avoid having background noise. Have people say their name before they speak so people who use captions know who is speaking.
- Describe demonstrations and images for visually impaired. Remember to be patient with attendees and ask if they have questions.
- After the meeting, make sure to share materials with everyone.
- Accessibility is important because everyone deserves to have the tools they need to work and make a living.
