- An oracle told Oedipus's parents that Oedipus would be the cause of their death. Since the parents didn't want to die they hung him upside down from a tree to die when he was a baby.
- A shepard found Oedipus being hung from the tree so he decided to help untie him. He also adopted him and Oedipus wasn't told this as he grew up.
- When Oedipus grew up he got in a fight with a man on the road. What he didn't know was that he was his father.
- Later was a sphinx terrorizing Thebes. To defeat the sphinx you would have to answer a riddle and if you failed it would eat you. Oedipus was brave enough to attempt the riddle and succeeded.
- Since Oedipus defeated the sphinx he inherited the throne and became the king of Thebes. He also married Queen Jacosta (not knowing she was his mother) and had 2 sons and 2 daughters
- Later Oedipus finds out the truth behind his father and mother. Because of this Oedipus's mother kills herself and in distress Oedipus gauges his eyes out. He is also exiled from Thebes and wandered in the desert until he dies.
