I will allow and encourage students to apply word identification and spelling skills as they read and write connected texts. I will also give direct feedback and model strategies for my students when practicing.
  • I will incorporate teaching the essentials into my everyday literacy lesson by monitoring student progress as I teach. I will do this by regularly assessing my students and tracking their growth. I can then adjust my teaching based upon the needs of my class. If a child is still struggling I can take additional steps to support their needs.
