  • July 14, 1789 The Storming of the Bastille
  • We are going to tear you apart piece by piece!
  • I knew this would happen one day. Bring more soldiers!
  • The Estates-General took place in Versailles on May 5, 1789. King Louis XVI was confronted by the commoners about the tax burden. The commoners were unsuccessful in reaching an agreement. This was the beginning of the French Revolution. The event also led to a rage by the commoners.
  • August 26, 1789Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
  • I've heard enough, we will come to a peaceful agreement.
  • You give us no freedoms! No say! It's not fair!
  • The Tennis Court Oath took place on June 20, 1789. The common people were upset about the way that they are living and being treated. The royals and nobles had everything they could want, but with this, the peasants were being taxed to death. Finding that they were locked out of their usual meeting hall, so they took to the tennis court, and made an oath to not leave until they came up with a new constitution for France.

  • We'll sure give them a piece of our mind.
  • We are already poor enough and struggling as is! Now we can't even afford to feed our family.
  • The storming of the Bastille took place on July 14, 1789. The storming of the Bastille was one of the major displays of violence in the French Revolution. The commoners hated the way that they had been treated compared to other nobles and royals. As they storm the Bastille they are displaying their power in numbers and showing that they have dealt with the ongoing problem long enough.
  • June 20, 1791Flight to the Varennes
  • I have done nothing wrong to anger you.
  • On August 26, 1789, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen was signed. The commoners still wanted a say in how they wanted more of a say. After finally deciding on a new constitution it was signed.

  • On October 8, 1789, the Women's March on Versailles took place. The prices of bread were escalating, and common people could almost no longer afford to buy food. With the strain of heavy taxation by the government being able to support, and feed your family was harder during this trying time period.
  • I'd rather starve than to have to pay that for food!
  • On June 20, 1791, Flight to the Varennes took place. This was the last "peaceful" attempt made by the commoners for King Louis XVI to fix his wrongdoings toward the peasants. The people had dealt with this long enough and were ready for a change.
  • We are giving you one last chance to fix how we are treated
  • If not, you're finished... you just wait and see!
