  • Ouch!!
  • cries
  • So I've looked at your arm, don't worry it looks like mitosis will help heal it fast!
  • The main phase your cells are in now is called the Interphase.
  • During Interphase, two chromosomes are formed and are joined together by the centromere. The centromere is where the 2 chromotids are joined.
  • WowCool!
  • There once was a little boy. His name is Bert. He was at school playing on the playground with his classmates when all of a sudden he fell down from the swing and his arm got hurt from the hard ground. He hit his arm really hard on the ground, so his friend accompany him to the clinic.
  • By the way, Spindle Fibers are the cytoskeleton structure that forms during cell division, AKA Mitosis.
  • The nurse came in and looked at his arm. She explained how mitosis occurs in 6 stages; Interphase, Mitosis, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase, and finally, Cytokinesis. She explains how mitosis helps with cell growth and heals broken bones and wounds faster!
  • After Anaphase, the next phase is called Telophase, in which the chromosomes begin to uncoil to form chromatin. The nuclear membrane nucleus begin to reform around chromosomes. The Nucleolus becomes visible again. Finally, spindle fibers break down.
  • I feel almost completely healed already!
  • The nucleus is where the chromosomes and DNA is stored, and the nuclear membrane is the outside protection for the nucleolus the nucleus.
  • about 6 weeks later....
  • The nurse explains how during the Interphase, which is before mitosis begins, then the cells grow and the chromatin start replicating. She also explains to Bert that the Interphase is split up into three main parts; G1, S, and G2. G1 is when the cells prepare the chromosomes to be replicated. S is when the synthesis occurs, meaning when the chromosomes are replicated and made. Finally, G2 is when they are finishing up the replication process.
  • Since you now know all about the Cell Cycle and Mitosis, you're all set! You've been fully healed!!
  • YEHEY! Thank you so much.
  • The first step in MITOSIS is the Prophase, which is when the chromosomes become visible as paired chromatids and the nuclear envelope disappears. She explained that the second step is called the Metaphase, when the chromosomes become attached to the spindle fibers, which then join to the Centromere.
  • During the Prophase, the spindle fibers are attached to the sister chromatids at the centromere. Then, the centrioles move to opposites sides of the cell. during the Metaphase, spindle fibers pull sister chromatids and line them up in the middle of the cell, which is called the equator.
  • The nurse explained to Bert how the third step, the Anaphase, helps him heal by creating more cells. In the Anaphase, then the doubled set of chromosomes separate into two identical groups that move to opposite ends of the cell. This is helpful to him because the cells are in the process of producing more cells.
  • BTW, Centrioles are small micro tubules that are mainly composed of a protein called Tubulin.
  • Right after Telophase, Cytokinesis begins. During Cytokinesis, the Cytoplasm is completely divided. A Cleavage Furrow forms and the cytoplasm divides, therefore creating 2 new daughter cells. After this stage, the cycle of cells is complete, and it cycles back through continuously to continue forming new cells.
