  • The Monsters are Due on Maple street-Theme Project
  • Dialogue
  • I just don't understand it. I tried to start it and it wouldn't start. You saw me. All of you saw me
  • Maybe you better tell us. Nothing's working on this street. Nothing. No lights, no power, no radio. [And then meaningfully.] Nothing except one car - yours!
  • Narration
  • Narrator: A mob turns violent seeking answers and a man shoots someone without thinking of the actions that are going to follow after he acts out of being scared and not knowing what to do next after seeing a "dark figure"
  • Prejudice can be as dangerous as any weapon. This means thinking things without proof can be just as dangerous as any weapon because others are getting hurt by your not proven “thoughts”Selena Nimmo
  • Stage directions
  • The dialogue is showing what they are saying and in this scene it's showing the suspicion between two men arguing because only his car cuts on. They prejudice their neighbors of being communist while jumping to co nclusions and people go crazy and turn against each other because of just what they “think” is going to happen and they take advantage of it and do things completely without reflection of the outcome.
  • The narrator is telling them what happened as the play continues and the most likely switch scenes.
  • Well, if that's the case, Les Goodman, explain why—[She stops suddenly, clamping her mouth shut.]
  • The part where they say [She stops suddenly, clamping her mouth shut] is stage directions for the actors to follow as they move on to the next person to talk to. The stage directions were most likely written by the director of the play.
