- in order to make a living many Americans moved westwards for new cheap land. Many lived as farmers and many became cowboys whos purpose was to led cattle across long distances to slaughter houses and railroad stations

- The industrial revolution brought change from the inventions made during the time. A couple inventions include the light bulb and railroads. These invention created many possibilities for Americans during this era.
- BQ5
- The progressive movement was a movement meant to fix many problems in the economy. One way people tried to fix things were threw muckraking. Muckrakers were investigative journalist who wrote about things going on in the economy in order to expose the problems.
- With the rise of immigration in America came with the term "boiling pot" The boiling pot was created by mixing immigrant and American children together in public schools where they'll all learn the same language and connect.
- In order to fight back against racist laws many African Americans began to migrate up north for work and less discriminations. Some even choose to fight such as Booker T. Washington who had a belief in equality and wanted other to get an education and W.EB DuBois who went for a non education route and formed the NAACP to fight back for equality.
