- A white baby elephant, which symbolizes purity, coming down from heaven entering Siddhartha Gautama's mother, Queen Maya's, womb and impregnates her for 10 months.
- Queen Maya gave birth on a full moon in the month of May. She gave birth standing and holding a a branch that the tree grew out to assist her. Then it rained right after the birth to wash the mother and the newborn son. Immediately after Siddhartha's birth he took seven steps and said This will be my last birth. Queen Maya then passed away one week after her son's birth.

- Siddhartha's father, KingSuddhodana,vowed to make his son's life as pleasant as possible and wanted him to be the next king.
