- Jesus was teaching people about God on the beach, but the crowd got so large that he got on a boat so he could teach better. He started talking about the parable of the sower
- Jesus said:He spread the seeds all around his farm, onto different soils. The seeds landed in different places.
- Some seeds fell onto hard surfaced soil, and unable to grow, were quickly snatched up by birds. This is like people who hear the word of god, but ignore it.
- Some seeds fall onto rocky soil. The rocks are hidden under the soil. Due to the soil being bad, the plants spring up quickly. But when the sun comes out, it scorches the plants, withering them away.
- There were seeds that fell onto good soil, but there were hidden weeds among it. Suddenly, it was too late, and the plants were choked by the weeds. These plants signify the people that hear the word of god, but then the problems of their life choke them, and consume all their times.
