- If I accept the alcohol, then I might risk being under the influence while I drive home. But if I decline, everyone might think less of me. What do I do?
- Hey, John, do you want some alcohol? Everyone else is having some.
- This time, John has a positive reaction and does not cave into peer pressure. He displays self control and chooses to use logic over emotion when he makes his decision. He weighs the consequences of both decisions and realizes that driving home safely is more important than how he is seen by his peers. He chooses to decline.
- No. I can't, since I have to drive home.
- Cool. I respect your decision.
- 2 hours later...
- Alright, I've gotta go home now. See you later!
- Alright, bye!
- A few hours later, John realizes it is time to go home. Even though he declined the alcohol, neither Marcus nor anyone else at the party thought less of him; instead, everyone respected his decision. John, not under the influence of alcohol, was confident in his driving abilities and decided to drive home.
