  • Photosynthesis
  • Water mixed with carbon dioxide (carbonation)
  • Hydrogen Combustion
  • Photosynthesis is a chemical reaction that converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen with sunlight. It requires sunlight which generates the energy. It is important as it is generates oxygen in the atmosphere. A Dutch born British scientist, Jan Igenhousz discovered that light was necessary and plants produce oxygen in the late 1700s.
  • Polyethylene
  • Carbon dioxide mixing with water is a chemical reaction that most people experience everyday without even knowing it .Carbon dioxide mixing with water makes the carbonation and the fizziness in carbonated sodas and water John Priestley invented carbonated water by accident in 1767 in England.
  • Organic polymers
  • Hydrogen atoms mix with oxygen atoms to create H20 (water). Henry Cavendish discovered water when he mixed hydrogen and oxygen together (oxhydrogen effect). He published his research in 1784. Water is an important historical chemical reaction as we need it for survival.
  •
  • Polyethylene is a plastic that was accidently discovered in 1898 and again by accident using polyethylene synthesis in 1933 by Eric Fawcett and Reginald Gibson in England. It was an accidental chemical reaction but it turned out to be the most produced plastic in the world.
  • Anionic and cationic are polymers used to clean water. Water is treated through a chemical reaction . The polymers contain a positive and negative charge that makes the solids bond together and separate from the water leaving clean water. This process is now used in most pretreatment wastewater plants . My dad uses this process at the Tyson Chicken plant in Corydon Indiana. This chemical reaction was discovered in the 1960s.
