  • Ms. Evanko... Teaching in Thailand
  • Oh Hi... I'm Ms. Evanko.
  • I was born and raised in the lovely state of Pennsylvania-- about an hour and a half from Irvington. In Pennsylvania, I grew up on a farm. We grew a variety of vegetables: corn, tomatoes, pumpkin, zucchini, peppers, etc. Also on the farm, we had many four wheelers. On my free time growing up, I spend a large chunk of my time riding around in the woods.#160;
  • Ms. Evanko + Rock Climbing = 3
  • From the wee age of 5 until today, I've played softball. I continued to play softball in college, where my team made it to the Softball World Series. We were number 2 in the nation that year. Fun fact: I actually play in an adult league that plays in Irvington.#160;
  • Skiing.... scary?
  • After graduating with my degree in English Literature and Education, I moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand. I worked and taught there for 3 years. While in Thailand I learned to speak and read Thai (sa-wad-dee-ka). I also learned to cook delicious Thai food... yum. After leaving Thailand, I moved to New York, where I have been living and teaching for the last 5 years.
  • Home Life
  • Overall, I am a very active person. Right now, rock climbing is my favorite outdoor activity. My husband also rock climbing so we travel around climbing in various states. Fortuntaly, About an hour from here is a location called "the Gunks" that is considered "world class" climbing. If you are interested in rock climbing-- let me know. Last year I organized a field trip, where 56 of my students went climbing. They had a blast.
  • I'm so tall...
  • Last year, I learned to ski. It has been quite an intense journey. If you are a skier and have learned to ski as a child, you are very lucky. Learning to ski as an adult has been emotionally challenging-- to say the least. However, I am dedicated to continually improving and falling less!
