- Inciting incident
- Everyone that turns the age 71 must be sent to the mountains to die. They are useless and have no wisdom
- NO! I don't want to go into the mountains to die.
- Rising Action
- In a small village in Japan lived a young famrer and his mother, who were under the decree of a cruel young lord.
- Climax
- But Sir, that's impossible!!
- You guys must complete these tasks for me in order to keep your village. First, is make me a rope out of ash, second is to thread a string through a log, and third is to make a a drum that plays without being beaten.
- The cruel yound lord announced that anyone who turns 71 years old must be sent to the mountains to die.
- Falling Action
- Mother you are a genious!
- The young farmer was not going to let his mother get sent into the mountains to die, so he dug a hole in his kitchen for his mother to hide in.
- Resolution
- I have learned that old people can be wise, and I have thought about my decisions. People over the age of 71 no longer get sent to the mountains to die!
- Lord Higa came into the village and threatend to conquer it, unless the wise men and the village solved 3 impossible tasks.
- Oh that is easy! First you soak ordinary rope in salt water, and when it is burned its a rope of ash! Then, you put and ant at the end of one log, and sugar on the other, and tie the needle and thread to it. Now you have a needle threaded through a log! Finally, put a bumble bee inside of the drum, so when it tries to get out, you have a drum that plays without being beaten!
- The young farmer told his mother about the impossible tasks that Lord Higa had given out to the village. The Wise Old Woman knew exactly what to do to solve the problems, and the young farmer was amazed by his mothers wisdom. He went quickly to report to Lord Higa how to complete his tasks.
- *Explains how to solve the three tasks*
- The young farmer reported the solutions to the Lord, and the Lord realized that old people can be wise. The Wise Old Woman saved the village, and the Lord changed his ways!
