- The life of Alfredo Salazar, Don Julian's son, is introduced by a scene in which he overhears his only sister, Carmen, and his father discussing: his extended preparation time for his wedding to his fiancée Esperanza, which appears to have no end in sight.There has been no progress.
- Don Julian and Alfredo decided to go neighboring one day, which was unusual for him. They went to the home of Judge Del Valle, where he met Julia Salas. The visits became more frequent, and he realized he had fallen in love with Julia. This is also where their conversation about their last time seeing each other takes place.
- He met up with Julia following the procession honoring the Lady of Sorrows. He approached Julia, and they briefly spoke until she abruptly broke histhe awkwardness and remarked, Congratulations! on his impending nuptials. Did you ever have to decide between something you wanted to do and something you had to do? he questioned her at that point.
- Julia doesn't want to be in the way of their relationship, thereforeShe left and said farewell, leaving Alfredo to wonder if she had said her final words. Then he returned to Esperanza.
- The ceremony went ahead. Alfredo was forced to go to Sta. after eight years. Cruz, the location of Julia, to track down Brigada Samuy-a, an elusive woman who is crucial to his legal defense. He discovered a reason to go.He discovered her at Julia's home. As soon as he laid eyes on her, he understood that his love for Julia had died, just like a star.
