- Of course Paul I know a lot about photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy (sunlight) into chemical energy(glucose). So through cellular respiration it can later be used for what the plant job is. It mostly ties into photosystem 2 and 1.
- Hi Sally, I have a new garden and my mom said something about soon the plants will go through or already are going through photosynthesis. Do you know what that is??
- SO if there's PS2 what is Photosystem 1?
- Photosystem 1 like PS2 uses light energy to catalyze the transfer of electrons across the thylakoid membrane from the combined action of the entire electron transport chain. It also produces a proton force that is used to generate ATP.
- Oh it's pretty simple. See Photosystem 2 always goes first. Now Photosystem 2 captures photons and uses the energy to extract electrons from water molecules. When the electrons are removed the water molecules are broken into oxygen which also goes away and hydrogen ions which are used to power ATP synthesis.

- Chlorophyll in photosystems 1 and 2 absorb light which triggers the release of high energy electrons. The triggered electrons from PS1 are transferred between carrier molecules through the electron transport chain (ETC). The ETC relocates H+ ions from the stroma to the thylakoid. Then the protons are returned to the stroma which use their passing to synthesis ATP
- So there's more right. There has to be more.
- RuBP is carboxlayted by CO2 to form a HBC. The HBC compound immedietly breaks down to molecules og glycerate-3-phospate (GP). The GP is converted by ATP and NADPH into molecules of triose phosphate.
