Storyboard Descrição

Children's storybook that focuses on unit 3, human-environment interaction.

Texto do Storyboard

  • Human-environment interaction is how people change and react to the world around them.
  • Hi! I'm taking a hike through the woods. This forest is a perfect example of human-environment interaction.
  • A hurricane is a big, windy storm that starts in the ocean. It can cause floods, destroy houses and even uproot trees!
  • For example, this area used to get flooded a lot because of hurricanes.
  • We didn't want that, so people built a dam to stop the flooding!
  • This is an example of people modifying, or changing, the world to fit our needs.
  • Sometimes people hurt the environment to fit their needs. Humans depend, or rely on, the earth to grow food, but bad farming practices can lead to desertification or salinazation.
  • Desertification is when good lands turn into a desert because of drought or bad farming practices. Salinization is when salt builds up on soil because it was watered too much.
  • This place used to be full of trees, but they were cut down in an act called deforestation to make room for farmland.
  • Some forests are cleared with slash-and-burn, which means plants are cut down and burned to clear land. This kills many plants and animals. and pollutes (dirties) the air.
  • so if we want to keep living on it,
  • we should use it in way that keeps it safe for generations to come.
  • All in all, humans need the earth more than it needs us
