- I am corn...
- I was born in the New World! More specifically, somewhere in the Andes Mountains, which are located in South America.
- So cold!
- I was first used by the Incas. I had a number of uses, but here are some! The Incas wove my husks into baskets, sleeping mats, children's toys, and clothing.
- This is why corn is so important to us!
- My journey to the Old World first starts with Christopher Columbus taking me to Spain. By the 17th century, I was a major crop for many European countries. The Portuguese then introduced me to East Africa and Asia. It was a matter of time before I reached India and China through set trade routes. While in China, I managed to make my way to Korea and Japan soon after I arrived. Now, I am one of the most widely grown vegetables on the planet!

- When I first arrived in the Old World, people thought the idea of corn was appealing. Eventually, I ended up SIGNIFICANTLY changing the lives of the people of the Old World. They relied on me for a good source of nutrients and protein.
- Make sure to eat your corn Emily!
- My new home did not really change my use as much as I would have thought. They grew me, and ate me, just like my old home. One of the few differences were the creations of many different types of me. An example is Dent Corn, which is a type of corn, like me, with little dents in each piece. This corn was usually used to feed livestock, and used for some industrial products well. I had a HUGE impact on my new home. I improved the diets and health of many people.
