- Tonight Arianna's starting in the basketball game. For months, she's been practicing her slam dunk. Before her jump, she must know how far away she is from the hoop. Since Arianna knows the hoop is 10 feet tall and she stands at 47 degrees looking up at it, she uses trig to calculate the distance. Sin(47)= 10/x=13.67 ft

- Oh good! The guy took it lightly and is deciding to throw the ball back down to Arianna. He stands at 17 feet tall on the bleachers. Arianna is 25 feet away from the back of the bleachers. In order to figure out the angle of elevation, Arianna uses Tan-1(17/25)=34.21 degrees
- Oh boy...Arianna got the ball stuck in the ceiling, in order to figure out how long the ladder must be extended to, the team manager takes into account she is 5 feet away from the ball straight ahead and above her, looking at the ball at 42 degrees. Tan(62) x 5 = 9.4 feet
- Hitting someone on accident was embarrassing enough, now the ball is stuck...
