  • 9/11The Day that Changed the Nation ForeverOur Failure, Our Duty
  • By: Molly Witt
  • The day started off normal for America on September 11th, 2001. As the world completed their daily activities, American Airlines flights 11 and 77 took off from the station, and United Airline Flight 93 and 175 followed shortly after, unaware on what dangers were about to come with them
  • Since that tragic day, America has been working tirelessly to try to fix what has been lost during 9/11. It took them 16 months to repair the pentagon, and it took 9 months just to clean up the mess that the crash made. Along with that, 10 years later they were able to capture the leader of al-Qaeda, and finally make him pay for his actions
  • The flights started off as normal, until terrorist apart of a group called al-Qaeda, hijacked the plane and took over. Their goal was to fly into the country's most important monuments. The planes ended up flying into both the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, and the third plane ended up flying in the pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Luckily the fourth plane was overpowered by the passengers and ended up crashing before it could hit the white house.
  • The 9/11 events was a traumatic disaster that hurt people all over the country. The government failed to prepare for an attack like this and it would take them a long time to repair the damage that has been done.
  • Another way the government has made up for their failure, is by making a 9/11 memorial, filled with all the names of the people who had died during 9/11, as a way to remember the tragedy and show how they've grown from it.
