- He belongs to the House of Montague, the hated rival of the House of Capulet.
- Romeo is described as young, handsome, and smart as well as being seen as impulsive and immature.
- His closest friends are Benvolio, Mercutio, and Friar Lawrence.
- Mercutio
- Mercutio is around the same age as Romeo and loves wordplay.
- Mercutio is is a kinsman to the Prince. He is neither Capulet nor Montague.
- Mercutio is described as being a hothead who finds Romeo's ideas about love quite tiresome.
- Some of Mercutio's closest friends are Romeo and Benvolio.
- Count Paris
- Paris is older than most of the main characters in the story. He is the age of an average adult. (Anywhere in his 20-30s).
- Paris is a kinsman of the Prince. He is neither Capulet nor Montague.
- Paris is the suitor for Juliet by her parents. Once decided that he will be marrying Juliet, he begins to act as if they already are.
- Paris does not have any close friends. (That we know of).
- Tybalt Capulet
- Tybalt is around the age if not a little older than Romeo.
- Tybalt belongs to the House of Capulet and is Juliet's cousin on her mother's side. he despises the Montague's.
- Tybalt is fashionable and courteous, yet can become violent and aggressive if his pride is on the line. He is very talented in fencing.
- Tybalt doe not have any friends. (That we know of).
