- The Triangle Shirt Waist Factory made women's shirts from very thin fabric. Immigrant women worked there in difficult conditions and for long hours, so they could make money.
- Part 4

- On March 25, 1911, people believe that a fire started on the 8th floor of the building because someone threw a hot cigarette into the trash.
- Part 5
- The fire that started in the trash quickly caught the fabric in the room on fire. Since there were poor conditions, the hose they had did not work, and the doors were quickly crowded and difficulty to open due to the number of people on each floor.
- Part 6
- In less than two minutes, the fire department arrived. People watched from the streets in horror. as people were trapped inside as the fire spread upstairs. While a few people were able to escape, most did not know how to get out of the building because fire drills were not done back then.
- Many women died because the fire escape ladder broke when it could not hold all the people trying to leave. Other women jumped out of windows to get away from the fire only to die on the sidewalk. The firemen tried to catch the women with nets, but the nets did not work to save them.

- After the huge number of deaths and a review of the bad working conditions found in the Triangle Shirt Waist Building, people fought for better workplace conditions and safety changes. Eventually, new laws were created and enforced to keep this from happening again.
