One day, as Gabi was folding his laundry in color order, she turned to see he was standing in the doorway, watching her in disbelief.
A smile stretching from ear to ear spread over her face at the sight of him, but quickly faded as she read into his expression.
Whats the matter?
He screamed unexpectedly. This caused Gabi to jump, she’d never seen such strong emotion come out of him before, it almost made her relieved to see he had any emotions at all.
Whats the MATTER?!...you are crazy. thats whats the matter.
Gabi stared, unsure of how to respond. A few seconds passed as silence filled the room, louder than the scream that came before it. Eventually he muttered,
I can’t do this anymore, you're too much, it's insufferable
and walked out of the room.
Gabi sank into the floor, knocking over her perfectly arranged pile of blues and purples. She sat there dazed, unable to process that what was everything to her was no longer anything.
He walked back into the room, expecting to see Gabi wailing on the floor, begging him to stay. Yet there she sat, staring blankly at the white textured wall right in front of her. She looked up at him, and as she examined the look of disgust on his face, it hit her.
She did lose someone who loved her, but it was never him, it was herself.
