  • During these times families were limited in movement because of lack of railways, cars and basic roadways.

  • Work was done by all family members mostly on the land. Extended family was also useful in helping produce and gather food.

  • Nuclear families became prominent as a result of urbanization and industrialization. this is also because families became more spread apart to grow cities and towns.
  • Advancements in technology were made as well as railroads and roadways making it easy for travel and mobilization
  • factories provided jobs for members of the families and other areas of work still revolved around the home and caring for the sick. People could not simply get jobs from connections but had to work for these positions
