  • Hello, My name is Jerry and I am here on behave of National Geographic to make a article on the Calvin Cycle. I have come here because a farm is one of many places the Calvin Cycle takes place.
  • Jerry
  • Hi Jerry my name is Steve and I am happy you choose my farm for your article. I be happy to tell you about the Calivin Cycle. First you need to know that the Calvin Cycle is apart of photosynthesis the light dependent reaction part. It has 3 steps carbon fixation, reduction, and regeneration.
  • Steve
  • Ok. What is the first step carbon fixation?
  • Carbon fixation starts when co2 is combine with Rubpc making a six carbon chain. The six carbon chain then encounters rubisco making 3 pga.
  • Great! What is the second step reduction?
  • Reduction continues from carbon fixation. First the 3 PGA we left off with from the first step turns into G3P. Along the way ATP turns back into ADP. Also NADPH turns back into NADP+
  • Photosynthesis- It is the process by which plants or producers create glucose and oxygen, their energy or food.
  • This perfect so far. What is the last step regeneration?
  • Regeneration is quite simple. One molecule of G3P goes and makes glucose or c6H12o6. The left over 5 carbon are recycled to make more RUBP. This is why the Calvin cycle is called a cycle because it keep on going. The cycle has to happen 6 times to make 1 glucose
  • Co2- 1 carbonRubpc- 5 carbonsRubisco- A enzymeEnzyme- Protein catalyst that speeds up biochemical reactions 3 PGA- 6 carbons
  • Wow thanks Steve for this information on the Calvin Cycle. This will fit perfectly with my article
  • No problem
  • G3P- 6 carbonATP- Energy
  • See you around
  • Bye
  • Glucose- Sugar
