- Due to an increase in greenhouse gasses, there is an increase in back radiation, and as such, an increase in earths energy input. This results in a warming planet and so the permafrost has begun to melt, uncovering the things frozen inside.

- As the organic carbon materials inside are uncovered, they begin to break down and release carbon dioxide and methane gas into the atmosphere with are greenhouse gasses. This results in a greater amount of infrared back radiation. This back radiation increases earth's temperature.

- As the back radiation increases, so does the earth's temperature. The permafrost melts and more organic carbon is exposed, causing an influx of carbon dioxide and methane gas into the atmosphere.
