  • When Timmy arrived, I greeted him openly, he looked even more miserable then yesterday. I put down my book, showing him all my attention to show I care about him. We didn't talk about the cricket as we usually do, all we really talked about was school and his bullies, I listened as best as I could, his voice was monotone and had a lot of stutters due to the anxiety.
  • When the conversation got stale, I asked him if he was okay, the answer didn't surprise me. The stress of his bully's heckles were clearly getting to him, I tried my best to talk, listen and help him anyway I could and showed full attention to show how much I care about his well-being. I did some research on a variety of websites such as kids helpline and kidshealth.org to help start up Timmy's journey into recovery.
  • Are you OK?
  • A good night sleep would help him be less anxious and stressed about the day to come. Exercising just for a bit everyday can make you feel better about yourself and help boost your mood. For the first time in a while, I saw him smile, and that talk helped him to resist the heckles and to be happy for who he was.
  • I told him about headspace, depression chat rooms.org, kids helpline and a variety of other help lines and chat rooms that could help him out of the depressed state he was in. I told him to continue eating a healthy diet, exercising, build a routine and to get enough sleep as these methods have all proven to help others out of depression. A healthy diet and schedule would shorten and help him resist mood swings and improve his ability to focus.
  • I will, thank you!
  • Maybe try, headspace?
