  • Trust vs. Mistrust
  • Can I really put my trust in this random girl?!
  • Come here! Give me a big hug!
  • Autonomy vs. Shame Doubt + Initiative vs. Guilt
  • * pees quietly *
  • Industry vs. Inferiority +Identity vs. Role Confusion
  • I'm doing well by reading books from the school library, but should I be making friends as well?
  • This original fictional story is based on a true story: How I see my brother's life (in the near future). Erikson's first stage of psychological development: trust vs. distrust. This is where my brother [Jihann] decides whether to trust me, his sister, since he doesn't know who I am.
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation
  • I still can't believe you're my girlfriend!
  • Potty training is crucial during Erikson's second phase, Autonomy vs. Shame Doubt, but since my brother hasn't been potty trained yet, he experiences his shame and doubts while feeling guilty.
  • Generativity vs. Stagnation
  • Industry vs. Inferiority is usually when a child is placed outside of their household family, it is Erikson's phase where attending school is vital to psychological development. Jihann studies hard in the library due to the inferiority of his teachers, but also faces a dilemma that has him questioning whether he should make friends (Identity vs. Role Confusion).
  • (Ego) Integrity vs. Despair
  • Back in my days... when I was your age...
  • Shortly after the teenage years are over, Erikson's intimacy vs. isolation kicks in when friendships and relationships become even more important to psychological development. *I'm not supposed to say but Jihann has a crush! And in the cartoon pictured above, they're on a date so he's not isolated.
  • You crack me up, man! I also find it hard to believe.
  • An eternity later... *just kidding, but between 40 and 65 years is Erikson's stage of generativity vs. stagnation. This phase is all about life at home: hanging out with the kids, helping the wife. So in here, Jihann is happily married with two kids!
  • Two eternities later...or 65 years old and older is Erikson's state of (ego) integrity vs. despair. This phase is about reflection, a rest phase you could say. It is our integrity to decide if we have been good in this life. Jihann arguably good thinking about his time growing up with his grandson!
