- In Chapter 1, we learn that the town is a really old town. We also learn that the town has rich and poor people living in it.

- In Chapter 2, we learn that Scout ends up going to school for the first time in her life. She complains to Jem that Mrs. Caroline is trying a new way to teach.
- Chapter 5
- In Chapter 3, We are introdued to Walter. Walter put maple syrup on everything that he was eating. Then he and Atticus talked about farm stuff.
- Chapter 6
- In Chapter 4, We see that Scout stops by the knothole on the Radleys property and sees 2 pieces of chewing gum.
- Sweet, 2 pieces of chewing gum.
- In Chapter 5, We see that Scout sits with Mrs. Maudie on her porch. Mrs. Maudie tells Scout that Boo is a kind child and he gives her insight of what the Radley family is like.
- In Chapter 6, We see that Jem and Scout plan to sneak onto the Radley's property. Then Jem's pants got caught in the fence while they were trying to escape.
