Storyboard Descrição

In the fourth part of my series, we see some extras from earlier return, we meet the shipbuilder and owner and a very funny woman, we learn about the dogs, Jack's love for art, meet a new character or two, and Rose begins to feel evermore trapped.

  • April 11, 1912, 3PMTitanic's Palm-Verandah Court Café
  • She is the largest moving object ever made by the hand of man in all history...and our master shipbuilder, Mr. Andrews here, designed her from the keel plates up.
  • Why're ships always being called 'she'? Is it because men think half the women around have big sterns and should be weighed in tonnage?
  • I may have knocked her together but the idea was Ismay's. He envisioned this steamer, so grand in scale and luxurious in its appointments, that it's supremacy shall never be challenged. And here it is.
  • Still in the Palm-Verandah Court Café, yo.
  • Order Table 5Prawn Salad and Baked JellyNo-Onion Tuna SandwichOrder Table 13Caviar, Sweet Dreams Verso.
  • What would you two like? Hmm? Pickled Caviar? It's the Chef's Choice.
  • May I have your order?
  • Tuna Sandwich with extra mayo, and for little Tommy here, he wants the Kid's Choice, PBJ, don't you Tommy?
  •
  • We will both have the lamb with prawn toppings and a little mint sauce. You, do like lamb, right, Rose?
  • You gonna cut her meat for her, too, there, Cal? Haha ha!
  • April 11, 1912, 4PMTitanic's Poop Deck
  • Rose, Cal, Rose's mother Ruth, Molly Brown, Thomas Andrews, and Bruce Ismay gather for lunch on April 11th--inside a beautiful sunny spot enclosed by high arched windows. The counters of the room bustle with people ready to order. The fake ivy scales up the walls in every spot.
  • Still on the Poop Deck, yo.
  • That's typical. First Class Dogs come down here by us just to take a crap
  • That shows where we rank in the scheme of things.
  • Rose stalked away while Cal was distracted by Molly's "cut her meat for her too there" comment, as Cal was too controlling and the others just wanted to talk about the ship. Also, if you've paid attention, you can see some people in the background that were in the Grand Staircase too.
  • Titanic's Aft A-Deck PromenadeApril 11, 1912, 5PM - Sunset
  • There were nearly 50 animals on titanic -- 30 of those were chickens being transported to a ranch in California. There were only a few cats (including a crew member that caught mice) and several dozen dogs including Poodles, Airedale Terriers, Huskies, Bulldogs, Scottish Terriers, Golden Retrievers, some unknown dogs, A Great Dane, Dalmatians and Dachshunds! The Airedale Terrier (i use the poodle as a substitute since StoryboardThat doesn't have an Airedale Terrier) belonged to the Astor Family---and of all things, was named Kitty! Most dogs you see here were kept in the kennels on the Boat Deck and F Deck and were taken care of by the two "Dogmen". The chickens were kept in the cargo hold and were cared for by, you guessed it, the Butcher. The cats were kept in the cabins and some small dogs were also kept there.
  • First Class Dining Room7:00 PM ish
  • Jack, with a conte crayon, draws 5-year-old Cora Cartmell and her parents hanging out by the rail while he and Fabrizio meet an irish man called Thomas Ryan.
  • Like we can forget.
  • Jack and Rose see eachother, only 60 or so feet apart, with the well deck like a gulf between worlds and a valley. She looks like a figure in a romantic novel, sad and isolated. He is caught staring but doesn't look away. She does, but then looks back at him, grinning for just a moment before stepping away from the rail. The couples behind her are what every outsider sees between her and Cal...happy, in love...Rose, just a girl of 16, is not in love with Cal, whom loves her, and is 38. She will have to go back to him again. She tugs at her dress, just not liking the fancy thing. As the sun sets behind her, a shining crystal across the rest of the ring, she slowly moves away. Jack looks away, and continues sketching Cora and her parents, admiring the young girl as she is able to name every animal she sees in the water and every type of dog on the deck.
  • "I saw my whole life as if I'd already lived it... an endless parade of parties and cotillions, yachts and polo matches... always the same narrow people, the same mindless chatter. I felt like I was standing at a great precipice, with no one to pull me back, no one who cared... or even noticed."- Rose in 1996
