- Touch the coffin or I'm going to leave you up here.

- But I can't walk!
- Get up Doodle! I'm going to teach you to walk!

- The brother took Doodle to the barn loft, showed him his coffin and told him about how everyone thought he was going to die. Doodle denied that the coffin was his but the brother insisted that it was. Then the brother made Doodle touch his coffin by threatening to leave him in the barn loft all alone.
- The brother was embarrassed to have a brother who couldn't walk so he decided to teach him. He took him to Old Woman Swamp to teach him. When the brother first tried to make Doodle stand,Doodle fell and told him that he couldn't walk because everybody said he couldn't.
- The brother had run ahead of Doodle during the storm, leaving him behind. When he came back for Doodle he found under a red nightshade bush. When he checked on Doodle, Doodle was bleeding from the mouth with blood staining his neck and shirt. When the brother realized that Doodle was dead, he started crying.
