- Narzhan felt bad for getting Maya in trouble and wants Maya to attend the Spring Fling dance. He decides he should give an attempt in talking to his parents about Maya really wanting to go to the dance, and that they should sign the slip, but Maya doubted she'll be able to go, she worried as she waited in her room.
- Maya, now living in America who came from Kazakhstan b/c of bad conditions there wishes to go to the Spring Fling event at her school, but isn't sure her parents would allow her too.
- Maya kept getting blamed for her actions by her father, which made her think it's inpossible to go to Spring Fling. He kept blaming her b/c he saw her in an American boys arm, and b/c she couldn't watch out for her brother Narzhan good enough at school.
- Finally, Narzhan goes into Maya's room to tell her about the situations. Maya stared at the slip in disbelieve. She got the permission to go to the dance - because of her brother Narzhan!
- I'm sorry I got you in trouble!
- Mayas mother gifts Maya a bracelet because she sees all the efforts she put. I forget sometimes when there is so much work that you are just a young girl . Maya realized her parents were able to change once they came to America after all.
- After Maya gets home from school, she sees that her mother has hurt her ankle and can't work for 6 weeks. Unfortunately, this has caused Maya to do lots of work, by cleaning other peoples homes and cooking food. This made it harder for her to be able to go to the dance.
