  • 🐓 ≠ 🐅hmm.. that's logical.
  • But all humans think the same! At least, more similar than a chicken and a tiger will.
  • Ethos: By establishing that Zaroff learned hunting techniques from his own books, Rainsford reminds Zaroff of his superiority. This could make Zaroff rethink his ideas because Rainsford is one of the influential people that shaped Zaroff's outlook on hunting in the first place.
  • Pathos: Rainsford could insult Zaroff's humanity, arguing that the hunt that he proposes is inhumane. Zaroff tries to stay civilized on his island, so the idea of people-hunting being uncivilized could change his opinion. Rainsford is triggering Zaroff's pride by implying his actions make him subhuman.
  • Logos: Rainsford can also explain to Zaroff that hunting only humans will soon be no less boring than any other animal. Humans are a single species with similar instincts, so they will likely act even more similar to each other than any two different animal species'.
